Comment:
This photograph was taken on 4 January 2014 one day after the storm
conditions seen in the first three photographs in this series.
The sea wall has been destroyed and washed down onto the shore.
The photo was taken at high water when the predicted
tidal water height was only 3 cm lower than the predicted height on the
previous day. The exceptionally high water on 3 January was
caused by the coincident timing of the low atmospheric pressure and
the severe gale blowing from the south off the Irish Sea and up the
length of Morecambe Bay. As can be seen from the sea
conditions, the gale has abated by 4 January.
