Comment:
Taken from Birkrigg Common, close to its border with the ancient
woodland of Sea Wood, this photograph looks across Morecambe Bay at
a time when the tide was receding. Shortly afterwards the
extensive sands of this bay would be revealed until the rapidly
flowing tide would once again fill the bay and travel beyond up the
estuaries of the rivers Crake, Leven and Kent. Across the bay
may be seen the two advanced gas cooled reactor powered power
stations which are located at Heysham on the Lancashire coast.
