Taken from the rising ground on the eastern side of Bolton Heads, this photograph looks north east across the shallow valley in which the two Urswick villages are located.  Little Urswick is just visible in the middle distance, and beyond, above the two pedigree Holstein Friesian cattle of Bolton Manor Farm, is the hamlet of Holme Bank.  The distant skyline behind Holme Bank is the summit area of Birkrigg Common which is the highest point on the eastern side of Rural Low Furness.  Outcropping limestone as well as a limestone erratic are clearly visible.
