Seen in this photograph is the first of two extensions added to the original Elizabethan Free Grammar School. The 1873 extension is to the right with exposed limestone stonework. A second extension was built in 1883 and is to the rear of the 1873 extension projecting back to the open countryside behind this village boundary property. As with the original 1585 school, all extensions are now private dwellings as is the former village pub, known as The Swan, seen on the extreme left.
