Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra and Conn were the children of Lir and his wife Aoibh. In this Irish legend the children became victims in a tale of family jealousy and intrigue and by a magic spell were turned into swans destined to spend 300 years on each of three lakes. The legend continues to the conclusion of that 900 year confinement; but suffice with this photograph to sample an imagined moment on one of those lakes.
