It is evident from this article that despite mains water having been installed across the area in relatively recent times, there still appears to be an absence of standardisation of couplings for fire hoses and that, as in this case of Urswick Parish Council, a decision must be made in each case as to which fire brigade to align with and thereby facilitate connectability to their hoses.
