It is not clear why Vandling, Lacka County was so attractive to Urswick people. A visit to http://www.city-data.com/city/Vandling-Pennsylvania.html will tell you a great deal about Vandling and its population of 751 at the 2010 census but nothing that explains what its appeal may have been back in 1904. One can speculated that the area had a demand for workers with mining experience.
